For this piece I decided to base it on my hero LeBron James and his journey through the NBA from his rookie year to current day. The design of this piece is based off of the Bob Dylan poster created by Milton Glaser. But for this creation I was tasked with creating three different color schemes for the design of my poster. The inspiration for my three pieces are based on the three different NBA teams that LeBron has played for during his career. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

In order to help display this message further i decided to include each number LeBron wore for the team and how it was resembled on his jersey. As for the “Strive for Greatness” quote near the top left, that the motto LeBron has gone by since day one. With the positioning of his face i wanted him to be looking at something that motivated and has driven him throughout his career.

As for the colors within LeBron’s beard and hair I wanted to include the team colors but also ones that represent the city he played in such as the pink and blue representing the nightlife of Miami. I decided to keep the white and brown, representing his hair, consistent in both pieces but changed the other colors around it. The colors I included also helped to highlight the strongest parts of his career that people see in him on and off the court. I used the color wheel to not have as many, as Landa describes in Graphic Design Solutions, complementary colors but rather analogous ones like blue and yellow to help create a genuine and comfortable flow. And using the scales created by Justin Baker, I arranged the colors to represent these traits. Red helped to represent the energy and passion, black shows power, and blue the trust he has from fans and teammates. Red also represents the feeling of evil people saw in him for deciding to go to Miami, while yellow is the warmth he received for going back to his fans in Cleveland, and purple is the royalty of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise when he decided to play there next in his career.
