Now that we had our final concept down, it was time to move onto creating a prototype of our idea. The prototype stage allows designers make their solutions to problems become a reality. All research and ideas come together to form physical objects that can help to move the process along by having the prototype. Our prototype was designed to include multiple features to cover multiple areas needing to be addressed by cyberbullying and also adapt to being able to be used multiple times. What was originally an information table, we turned it into a mobile unit by adding wheels to the prototype. This way it could show up at multiple events on campus where students will already be attending.
The cart was designed to help both spread awareness and address the concern of providing support for cyberbullying victims. By having a spokesperson / representative present at the cart, it provides an atmosphere that is interactive and humane by allowing people to interact verbally. Included in the cart is brochures with information as well as a laptop. Business cards provide people with numbers and emails to people who can help provide victims of cyberbullying with support. In the define and ideate stage we knew that by showing real life examples of cyberbullying people would be able to empathize more and take into account their own interactions on social media and the internet moving forward. Which is why we added a board to the front of the card where people can post their own personal stories and provide support for others anonymously. And by seeing these examples people would be able to realize what may be not be seen as cyberbullying to them may be received as cyberbullying to victims.
